Molly Malone (Mol Ni Mhaoileoin) is also known as "Cockles and
Mussels" or "In Dublin Fair City". Molly Malone is the
name of the protagonist of a popular song from Ireland who has become the
unofficial anthem in Dublin. It was composed around 1880 by James Yorkston.
That song tells the story of a beautiful pescadera, called Molly Malone. The girl
died of a fever in the street. She was going through the streets of the port area
of Dublin, pushing a cart and proclaiming Sung "Mussels and cockles
alive!".
